Español abajo

Women in Struggle – Mujeres en Lucha, a U.S.-based organization and member of the Women’s International Democratic
Federation, condemns the Genocide that the murderous state of Israel is committing against the Palestinian population in the
Gaza Strip, a population composed mostly of women and children.

We also condemn the criminal actions of the United States government that hypocritically repeats ad nauseam the justification
of helping in the “defense” of Israel, sending it powerful weapons so that Israel increases its capacity to devastate this invaded
territory that constitutes the largest prison on the planet. But what else can you expect from a country like the United States
that burned to death tens of thousands of Japanese people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Who launched white phosphorus bombs
against the Vietnamese people? Who provided the white phosphorus, prohibited by International Law, to Israel to use against
Gaza and Lebanon, according to the NGO Human Rights Watch (HRW)?

It is also sickening and outrageous that to justify massacring a people, they use the religious fervor of people around the world
as a shield.

We also refuse and condemn the silence of governments that, for their economic interests, excuse and condone this genocide.

We, however, embrace the Palestinian people and support their just struggle of Resistance that has not ceased since the beginning
of the invasion and occupation by Israeli Zionism. We emphasize that the Armed Struggle used against the subjugation of
a colonized people, their right to resist in the way they deem convenient and possible, is valid within International Laws.

Long live Free Palestine!

¡Viva Palestina Libre!

Proposal to the movement from Women in Struggle – Mujeres en Lucha:

NATIONAL MARCH TO PROTECT TRANS YOUTH
Florida, Autumn 2023

& SPEAKOUT FOR TRANS RIGHTS
Build a People’s Tribunal to put anti-trans bigots on trial

Transgender, nonbinary, gender-nonconforming, and intersex people are under siege. So far this year, more than 400 anti-trans bills have been introduced at the state and national levels. Fourteen states have banned or severely restricted life-saving gender-affirming care for trans youth. Attacks, both legislative and violent, are growing by the day, while national elected officials who claim to support LGBTQ+ community remain silent and do nothing.

We can’t wait for the next election in hopes that things might improve. Measures are being enacted NOW that will do irreparable harm to trans youth and all trans people. The thousands of youth around the country walking out of schools and rallying at state capitols have shown us the way. Now we need to take the movement national.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who wants to be president, is one of the most vicious abusers of trans youth and the rights of all people. Behind politicians like DeSantis are rich bosses who profit from divide-and-rule tactics.

Join us to build a broad national coalition in partnership with organizations and communities on the ground in Florida and with allies in the Black Lives and immigrant rights struggles, the women’s movement, educators, labor, the unemployed, and antiwar movements.

GET READY for the first planning meeting on Zoom in April.
SPREAD THE WORD. Think about what you can do!
ADD YOUR NAME & ORGANIZATION to the list of initiators and endorsers.
REACH OUT to info@womeninstruggle.org for updates and to get involved.

On Sunday, Jan. 22, a webinar panel will report on “What we can learn from Cuba’s ‘code of freedom’ for families.” The people of socialist Cuba voted by a two-thirds margin for the new Code of Families on Sept. 25. The vote was won after three years of democratic discussion and education at all levels of society.

The new code enshrines in law the rights of LGBTQ+ people and women in marriage and adoption. It changes the fundamental relationship between parents and children to one based on responsibilities and rights. It elevates chosen families to the same status as blood families. It protects the rights and dignity of elders and people with disabilities. It embraces the rights that are being stripped away from people in the U.S. or that we never had at all.

Cuba is under siege from the U.S. blockade, which has been condemned by the United Nations for 30 years, a siege tightened by Trump and now maintained by Biden.

The panel will discuss:

How was Cuba able to accomplish this historic transformation of families while coping with the U.S. blockade against Cuba, which has continued unabated during the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent climate-change catastrophes?

Why is the U.S. media silent about this unprecedented accomplishment?

What can we learn from Cuba’s experience building solidarity at a time when rights for LGBTQ+ people, reproductive care, equality for chosen families, as well as respect for youth, elders, and the disabled are under vicious attack by the capitalist class, its political parties and violent white supremacist groups?

Mariela Castro Espín, director of Cuba’s National Center for Sex Education (CENESEX), will present a message in the webinar panel. Some of the other speakers will include Berta Joubert-Ceci for Women In Struggle / Mujeres En Lucha; Cheryl LaBash, co-chair of National Network on Cuba; Gloria Verdieu from Prisoners Solidarity Committee; Mahtowin Munro from United American Indians of New England; Melinda Butterfield, a Struggle-La Lucha co-editor; and Ellie McCrow from Pratt Workers United. There will be opportunities to address questions to the speakers following the panel presentations.

The webinar is sponsored by Women In Struggle / Mujeres En Lucha, a member of Women’s International Democratic Federation.
